The Delivery stage builds the team’s ability to commit and deliver.
Stage 3: DELIVERY — End-of-Stage Checklist
By the end of this stage, the team should have:
Transitioned from a basic Plan–Do–Check–Act rhythm to a stable sprint or Kanban workflow.
Introduced daily stand-ups to improve coordination and visibility.
Established regular backlog refinement to keep work ready for development.
Held consistent retrospectives to reflect and drive continuous improvement.
Created a shared Way of Working agreement to align team expectations.
Clarified communication norms to reduce friction and noise.
Defined agreements on behavior and values to build trust.
Implemented a work breakdown funnel to split large tasks into manageable pieces.
Used tools like the 5 Whys to identify and resolve root causes.
Established a steady delivery cadence to build rhythm and predictability.
Team
The team struggles to solve problems together. → Establish working structures and create working agreements.
Use Level 2 ceremonies and put working agreements in place.
Delivery
Delivery output is low in both quality and quantity. → Break work items into smaller, manageable deliverables.
Use the FAST Breakdown Funnel to refine work.
Leadership
A lot of time is spent on support and conflict resolution. → Help the team get to the root cause of issues.
Use the 5 Whys technique together with the team.
Tips for 5 Whys:
Blame the process, not the people.
Avoid singling anyone out.
Be specific and avoid vague answers like “We didn’t plan well.”
Don’t force answers; usually the root cause emerges between the 3rd and 5th why.
Don’t go beyond 5 whys — it just becomes a loop.
Processes & Templates (P&T)
Work is unstructured and lacks clear prioritization tools. → Set up key P&T to organize the backlog, including:
Ceremonies
Working agreements
Roles & responsibilities
Customer persona and feedback loop
